Yacht is a kind of water entertainment consumer product with multiple functions, including navigation, sports, entertainment and leisure, to meet the life enjoyment needs of individuals and families. It is mainly used for business projects in parks and tourist attractions, and a small amount is used for port surveillance, public security and border defense work. Yacht manufacturing usually uses marine-grade aluminum alloys, including 5052 aluminum sheet, 5083 aluminum sheet, 5086 aluminum sheet, 6061 aluminum sheet, aluminum welding wire, etc. It has the characteristics of lightweight, corrosion resistance, easy processing, good weldability, beautiful appearance, environmental protection and other characteristics, and is widely used On the hull, cantilever, bridge, bottom and stern sheet, etc.

Aluminum alloy yachts have been widely used in many fields such as water tourism, family entertainment and leisure, official business and law enforcement due to their durability, lightness, strong impact resistance, high degree of freedom in interior customization, safety and environmental protection. application. With the continuous advancement of science and technology and the improvement of people's requirements for ship performance, the market prospects of aluminum alloy yachts will be broader.

Marine grade aluminum alloy for yachts

The two main alloys used in the construction of yachts are 5052 and 5083 aluminum sheets. Marine grade aluminum 5083 has a higher magnesium content and is more brittle and harder, but has better corrosion resistance and higher strength than 5052 aluminum sheet. 5052 aluminum sheet has better formability and is more suitable for pressing.

Small yachts on freshwater lakes generally use 5052-H32 aluminum sheets and 5052-O aluminum sheets, because fresh water is not as corrosive as seawater; offshore yachts are almost all luxury yachts, and because seawater is highly corrosive, they generally use 5083-H116 or 5083-H321 aluminum sheets.

In order to adapt to the seawater environment and aesthetics, some shipbuilding plants use 5083 aluminum as the lower part of the hull (underwater part) and 5052 aluminum as the upper part of the hull.

6061 aluminum alloy is also commonly used in the manufacture of structural parts because of its good processability and strength.

The structure of an aluminum alloy yacht requires a large amount of welding, so specialized welding materials are required, such as aluminum alloy welding wire (commonly used 5356 or 5183 welding wire) to ensure the strength and corrosion resistance of the joints.

Marine grade aluminum alloy is used in different yacht parts and usage requirements:

1.5052 aluminum sheet: It has good forming performance, corrosion resistance, weldability, and medium strength. It is used to manufacture various industrial structural parts that require certain strength and high corrosion resistance, such as fuel tanks, pipes, valves, etc.

2.5083 aluminum sheet: It is an aluminum-magnesium alloy with the characteristics of low density, high toughness, high corrosion resistance and weldability. It is mainly used on ship hulls and can adapt well to harsh marine environments.

3.5086 aluminum sheet: It has good ductility and corrosion resistance, so it is often used to make ship bottoms and stern sheets.

4.6061 aluminum sheet: It has high bending strength and ductility, and is mainly used for components such as cantilevers and bridges.

5.5356/5183l aluminum welding wire: high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, mainly used for welding structural parts.

Why choose marine aluminum plate as a yacht shipbuilding material?

Marine aluminum plate is one of the main materials for yacht shipbuilding, with the following advantages:

1. Durability: Aluminum will not rust, corrode or rot, and is resistant to low temperatures down to -200°C, and can cope with bad weather.

2. Lightweight and impact resistance: Aluminum alloy yachts are light, fast, low in fuel consumption, high in strength, and strong in resistance to foreign impact.

3. Safety: Aluminum is non-flammable, ensuring safety at sea, and many navies and coast guards use aluminum boats.

4. Long service life: With appropriate materials and maintenance, aluminum alloy yachts can be used for decades.

5. High comfort: Aluminum yachts are stronger than wood or fiberglass, providing a quieter sailing experience.

5. Good welding performance: Aluminum alloys such as 5083 and 5086 have excellent welding performance, the joint strength is close to the parent material, and there are few cracks, which are suitable for hull structures. Small deformation after welding, low thermal expansion coefficient, maintain hull precision and quality.

6. Good low temperature resistance: It can still maintain toughness and strength in low temperature environment, suitable for use in different climatic conditions such as polar regions.

7. Easy processing: It can be processed by cutting, bending, stamping, etc., suitable for making complex structural parts and curved surfaces.

8. Strong recyclability: Aluminum alloy material is a recyclable and environmentally friendly material. It can be recycled after being discarded, which helps to reduce the impact on the environment.
